"...Reading is Sexy. Be Sexy Every Day."

The header on the Dusty Owl Reading Series URL covers off their intention. An intimate, eclectic group of characters (with the dog banished, most unfortunately, upstairs) met up late Sunday afternoon in the "Generator Lounge" (= basement) of the Electric Gallery for one of the Dusty Owl's regular gatherings. This time, instead of a reading, Melissa Laveaux performed a set from her new album. I was glad to hear her, and to meet a number of people who, or whose work, I had only heard of before -- putting faces to the names. These guys are devoted. Thoughtful regulars at their favourite bar, Steve and Catherine also recommend I interview Swizzles' owners, about their patrons' determination to see the bar re-open as soon as possible -- to the point of going in and helping with reconstruction. That, I'd say, is loyalty.
